Afternoomn Tea Karel 5 Explore Utrecht 4

Whether you enjoy a high tea with family, friends or as a date, a high tea is always a fun activity for the afternoon. Where to expect the most special high tea in Utrecht? I found some great spots for you!

Bakkerswinkel

On the corner of the Plompetorengracht and the Wittevrouwenstraat you will find this nice breakfast, high tea, dining and take-away spot. The Bakkerswinkel has the looks of a real bakery and it smells great of freshly baked bread and other delicacies. There are four different types of high tea to order, including a gluten- and lactose-free option.

The prices of the different high teas vary between €24.75 and €29.75 per person, which includes a large pot of tea and a fruit juice. The high tea can be ordered between 12:00 and 16:00 and for €5.50 you have a glass of cava with your delicious high tea. Besides a high tea you can also enjoy a drink, lunch or cheese fondue.

Wittevrouwestraat 2

The Streetfood Club

The Streetfood Club offers a special high tea. You start with a teapot filled with a refreshing cocktail to wake up the taste buds. Then a large basket of Asian street food is served, such as springrolls, pork dim sum and a papaya salad. After these savoury snacks, the main “Take you to the Candy Shop” is served; you get three sweet dishes, along with a pot of tea. The dishes and drinks are nicely laid out and match perfectly with the coolly styled club. If you like Instagram, then The Streetfood Club is for you. The high tea is €29,- per person (including tea). High tea is served seven days a week between 14:00 and 17:30.

Address: Janskerkhof 9
Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday 11.00 – 01.00

Karel V

In the bistro section of Karel V they serve a delicious afternoon tea. This is a subtle variation on the high tea and was created in the nineteenth century to narrow the gap between lunch and dinner. This afternoon tea starts with a glass of prosecco, followed by various snacks in several courses. The snacks are both savoury and sweet and are nicely made up. The menu changes per season, but whatever season it is, you can certainly count on scones with clotted cream. The room where the afternoon tea takes place is also beautiful. In short, a great high tea experience!

The afternoon tea costs €33,- per person. Would you rather drink champagne than prosecco? This can be done for an extra €5.75. The intention is that you start around 14.00 with the afternoon tea.

Address Geertebolwerk 1
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 – 22:00
Saturday and Sunday 09:00 – 22:00
