Dining with a view
Dining with a gorgeous view of Utrecht? Yes, that is possible at WT Utrecht – Urban Cafe & Kitchen located at the water tower on Rotsoord. This newly opened gem is managed by a dream-team, that started their career at ‘Podium onder de Dom’, what most people would say is the best restaurant in Utrecht. These two men and the crew are ready for a new adventure at WT Utrecht – Urban Cafe & Kitchen.
Preview on Food Festival ‘Uitgekookt’
The restaurant gave a preview of the menu during the Food Festival Uitgekookt. We didn’t want to miss this so dispite the rain we got on our bikes to the Janskerkhof for a tasting. The chef, Joost Bergsteijn created two small dishes for the Food Festival. The first dish was: ceviche of scallops with avocado and mango. Secondly: veal(cheek) with boiled pickled onion, potato mousseline and puffed buckwheat. The veal was delicious and surprising with the puffed buckwheat. The ceviche of scallops, a heavenly dish gorgeously presented on a shell. I was very hesitant to share the dish with my co-blogger, Lisa. But did so anyway, and Lisa enjoyed her single small bite immensely. Chef, Joost Bergsteijn, has got some serious skills!
Urban Cafe & Kitchen
The cafe is located downstairs at the entrance of the water tower with a terrace along the Vaartse Rijn. The cafe has small dishes and bites you can match with great wines or beers whilst enjoying the boats passing by in front of you. It’s a perfect location for Friday drinks. You can also stop at the quayside with a boat and hop on the terrace. How awesome is that!
The restaurant is located in the top two floors of the tower. On the upper floor you have a gorgeous view of the city. This will add to the dining experience at WT Utrecht – Urban Café & Kitchen I’m sure. One floor down the view is restricted by small windows but there is an open plan kitchen and you can see the chef’s getting the dishes ready. Not bad either, right? Restaurant WT Utrecht has a France kitchen, so you can expect rich dishes full of flavor and beautiful wines. To keep this exciting the menu will be renewed every few months. Now and then some dishes will be changed as well. This must be part of their ‘keep you coming back for more’ strategy.
We like ‘WT Urban Cafe & Kitchen’! And I’m bold enough to say, you will like it as well. One thing is a fact, Rostoord just a got a whole lot nicer with the opening of WT Utrecht. And I do recommend you visit and explore this up and coming part of the city.
