With the nice weather of the past few days you have to go out with the kids a lot. Okay, maybe it’s a big word, but any excuse for quality time with your little ones is a good idea, right? We asked on social media what your absolute child-friendly hotspots in Utrecht are and your favorites can be found in this blog.
Buurten in de Fabriek
Restaurant Buurten in de fabriek is one of the four establishments of Kom Buurten and the big favorite with the most votes. That’s logical, because it’s a nice place to have a bite to eat with the kids and it’s just as much fun for them as it is for you. The restaurant is part of the Cereal Factory. It is therefore ideal to combine a visit to the restaurant with a day at the theatre or a visit to the library. These are in the same building! You can also go there every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The children’s menu has everything a child’s heart desires, such as fine sandwiches, pancakes and delicious sausages. A number of dishes for adults can be ordered in small portions. Oh yes, and then we didn’t even mention the desserts, banana split anyone?

Jozef
Number two is also a restaurant! Jozef is known for its fresh produce and surprising seasonal menu. Especially for the little ones there is a play area with a chalk wall in the restaurant. The perfect place to unlock and decorate the wall with drawing arts. The older children are also well catered for, as they can enjoy themselves with fun games. Typical case child friendly restaurant! The doors are open every day from ten o’clock and the location on the beautiful Mariaplaats is a plus. So as far as we are concerned Jozef deserves a place in this list of child-friendly hotspots in Utrecht.

Griftpark
Playground, check! Petting zoo, check! Skate rink and basketball court, double check! Of course the Griftpark in Utrecht cannot be missing from this list. The green park is without a doubt one of the finest parks in the city. Whether you want to go out with the little ones or with adolescents, everyone can enjoy the park. It is therefore a great location for children’s parties. The park is closed on Mondays, but the rest of the week you can go there from 10:00 to 17:00.

Moestuin
Attention to all green fingers and animal lovers, because number four is the Moestuin in Utrecht. Ideal for children who love goats, chickens and rabbits. Unfortunately you are not allowed to feed them, but warm cuddly toys are more than welcome. Oh, and then we haven’t even started about self-harvesting. Don’t you have a garden or isn’t your garden big enough? Whatever the reason, at the vegetable garden you can harvest your own vegetables and fruit every week. Fun and delicious!

Speeltuin de Torteltuin
This is a real hotspot for the youngest children, because the playground is specially designed for children up to the age of seven. A safe place for your little one to have a carefree time. Here children can play outside in the old-fashioned sandbox with slide and swings. Fun activities are organised all year round. So take a look on the site to see what kind of fun is on the agenda. The Torteltuin is open from Monday to Saturday and costs only €1 per person. Keep in mind that in case of bad weather the playground is closed.
