Utrecht Gifts

I have been searching for gifts made by locals or products that have a connection with Utrecht. And I came across some pretty awesome stuff that I have to share with you. For this happy season these gifts will make a great present and you will be #supportinglocals. So this is a win-win situation!

Stylist Yolande Ave, whom lives in Utrecht, has her own styling company that offers styling sessions, shopping sessions, workshops and more. But here is the cool thing she also offers selfie styling advice. Really! People are continuously taking pics of themselves anyway, so it is a great way to offer styling service. Picture this: you are trying on different outfits but you aren’t sure what looks good on you. Instead of taking pictures and sending these to your BFF or BF you send your selfies to Yolande and she will assess your outfit and give you tips. Bam! Your own mobile stylist just a send button away. More info on all styling services and gift-cards here & Facebook here!

What about representing Utrecht by wearing the cool t-shirts and sweaters from Utca’s Finest? This is getting to be a trend nowadays as I see more and more people rocking the awesome UTCA gear. And to qoute one of my followers; every Utrechter should do so’! You can shop for gifts in the Utca’s Finest webshop or do some real life shopping at sneaker heaven Prime on the Schoutenstraat.

There are artists in Utrecht that are very passioned about the city and take every opportunity to show us how beautiful and inspiring this city can be. One of them is Lars, better known as L-Tuziasm.  He is inspired by city-life, urban areas and architecture and off course Utrecht. His tribute to the city, ‘Bonne nuit Utrecht’ is a cool gift and great addition to a contemporary interior. The print is a limited  edition, only 112 other people will hang the print on the walls. Check the website here!

This one is for foodies! If you like to bake cake and or cookies and you are badly in love with Utrecht why not bake a cake or cookie in the shape of the Dom tower. The Dom tower banking tin is available at Keck & Lisa on the Zadelstraat or Ibake in the Zakkendragersteeg. The wooden cookie board is made from trees in Utrecht that have been cut down. These trees get a second life, a backing career, and you can make the nicest ‘speculaas’ cookies. The wooden plank is from NOEST and company based in Utrecht that makes several products from trees out of parks in Utrecht. You know the origin from a produc; what kind of tree and where it used to stand. You can buy products from NOEST here: Spring! Utrecht (Voorstraat 16), De Kast (Zakkendragerssteeg 13), SET Store (Laan van Nieuw Guinea 17), iBake (Zakkendragerssteeg 8) and HIPraven (Amsterdamsestraatweg 217-219).

Ps: if you are not into baking you can buy a ready to eat Dom tower cake at Bakery Blom in the Zadelstraat.

Other places you can buy great Utrecht gifts are Bert’s Bierhuis and Catch Utrecht.

Happy gift hunting peeps! I’m sure these suggestions will make great presents and remember #shoplocal or stay home. 😉
