We started a New Year a while ago and like every year one of my resolutions is to eat healthier. I’m really no fitgirl, but sometimes it’s just good to know what the options are for a light meal packed with healthy vegetables. But where would you find those in Utrecht? I’ve put together a list of my 7 favourite hotspots just for you!
Dying to try something other than the ‘regular old’ salad, but still want to keep your meal light? Then a poké bowl might be a good option. And no, that doesn’t have anything to do with Pokémon! A poké bowls is a cold, Hawaiian dish with vegetables, rice and fresh fish (optional). It kind of reminds me of sushi in a bowl! At Poké Perfect you can create your own bowl however you like it, or pick one of their set combo’s.

Gys serves a selection of organic, freshly made dishes, among them some delicious salads! You can find Gys in two places in Utrecht, on the Voorstraat and on the Amsterdamsestraatweg. Apart from salads you can enjoy an array of warm and cold dishes, of which a lot are vegetarian or vegan, glutenfree or lactosefree. Something for everyone!
Bluzone is the new spot in town and they offer an all in one option for a healthy meal. Whether you’re looking for fresh juices and smoothies or creating your own salad, bowl or burrito, or even for a delicious espresso. What more would you need?

It’s all in the name: the dishes on the menu are deliciously fresh (vers = fresh in Dutch)! A lot of the dishes are home made and seasonal, which means the menu changes with every season as well. They have a large selection of sandwiches, but also several soups and salads to pick from.

More of a fruit lover? Then you have to make your way to Smood! You can not only get delicious smoothies here, but also fresh juices and fruit salads. Perfect for a boost of vitamin C.

If you’re craving a nice salad, SLA is the place to be! You can create your own custom salad or pick one of the options listed. Apart from salads they also have a selection of vegan desserts (you’ve deserved it after all that healthy eating!).
If you fancy something fancier, then you should check out Le Jardin! The name literally translates to ’the garden’ in French, and that is exactly what you can expect. The restaurant looks like a garden in itself, with lots of greenery. You can even take some plants home with you from their flower shop next door! All their dishes revolve around vegetables, with meat and fish often taking a backseat. The vegetables are the shining stars!
