Anne & Max located on the Donkere Gaard is one of my favorite spots in Utrecht. It go there to meet up and chat with friends over a cup of thee. Order a coffee to go and of to meetings. An afternoon in front of the laptop blogging and staying for lunch. It is also a perfect spot to relax in front of the fireplace with a book or magazine.
The decor is modern but cozy, with dark wood, brown tones, shots of green and warm light. On the walls you will see fun and cute texts. The restaurant has a living room feeling, especially the room with the fireplace. The property was first being used for student housing, luckily there is no trace of this anymore. The building has been complete renovated.
Usually I order the club sandwich with chicken fillet, delicious fresh juice and a creamy latte. If you have a sweet tooth then Anne & Max has a great selection of cakes and cookies for you. The fitgirl or fitboy can also feel confident to go to Anne & Max because it has raw bars and tasty herbal teas.
Breakfast, Lunch & Drinks
On the menu you will find several breakfast options; something sweet or savory but also granola and fruit. In the evening you can order a snack plate and don’t forget a glass of wine. The crew is very enthusiastic and friendly, this experience is very refreshing. There are enough reasons to go and visit Anne & Max! When leaving you can also take home a little piece of Anne & Max because the flavoured teas and mugs with fun texts are for sale.
Staying the night at B&B bij de Jongens
Located above Anne & Max is B&B bij de Jongens, here you can stay overnight overlooking one of the liveliest squares in Utrecht. And if you are lucky you will get a room with a view on the pride of the city; the DOM Tower. (Earplugs are waiting for you.) In the morning breakfast awaits at Anne & Max.
