Malie Hotel Explore Utrecht 12

Past weekend we spend a night at the Malie Hotel. The reason: curious to see and experience the newly renovated hotel! We enjoyed the soft Auping beds, bath products by Rituals, super friendly staff and local breakfast.

Something old, something new

The Malie Hotel has been through a make-over in the past months. The rooms – previsiouly dominated by dark blue and brown colors – have a luxurieus feel with a touch of Utrecht: each room has a picture wallpaper of a view in Utrecht – the pictures were taken by the staff themselves. Furthermore the hotel is decorated with Moroccan lamps and furniture in shades of taupe, dark grey and red.

Go local

The Malie Hotel works with local suppliers. At the bar you order a beer that is made by local brewery De Leckere, in the morning you put marmelade made by Streeck Specialiteiten from Nieuwegein on your croissant and while walking through the hotel you can admire art made by local artists.

Drinks in the garden

What moste people don’t know is that the Malie Hotel has a super nice hidden courtyard were you can have drinks in the summer. Underneath big white sunshades you enjoy a view of the grand buildings on the Maliebaan. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but around the corner on the Bilstraat you’ll find enough spots. After your drink at the hotel bar, you take walk to eetcafé Te Koop, or Bastacosi for the best pizza or go for a typical Indonesian dinner at Sentai. If you feel more like pasta, stop by Spaghetteria. For lunch you can visit Cornelis, which is just a few steps away from the Malie Hotel.
