Began in 1972 as ‘Tejater Kikker’ in a space above the building of the Utrecht Student Corps on Janskerkhof (next to Woolloomoolo) and has grown to be the well-known  Theater Kikker (Theatre Frog), a valuable asset to the city. At the current location on the Ganzenmarkt, Theater Kikker offers a stage for contemporary theatre, modern dance and youth theatre with a strong focus on programming Utrecht-based authors, groups (such as theater group Aluin) and festivals.

On Wednesday, September 9th the third edition of the Festival ‘Theater Kikker Kiest’ started. The festival selects, a few favorite shows of the past season to take the stage again. In many ways Theater Kikker is a special experience. So we say ‘people’ go and see for yourself and experience one of the shows at the Theatre. We recommend the debut performance ‘La Isla Bonita’ on 22 and 23 September, a swirling performance of five girls from the Performance training from Maastricht, that shed light on the different aspects of refugee problematics.

Since late August 2015 Theater Kikker also operates the brand new Podium Hoge Woerd in the impressive Castellum Hoge Woerd located at Leidsche Rijn. A theatre with a whole new identity and extensive programming focused on the Leidsche Rijn, but also very interesting for intercity folks. Its only a few minutes by bike, so…
