De Rode Vosch recently launched their new lunch menu, and let me tell you: it’s a gem! With hearty and delicious dishes and that Aussie emphasis on fresh and colourful plates, De Rode Vosch has become one of my new favourites for lunch & brunch.
Set up in a beautiful monument from the 1600s, De Rode Vosch is a sight for sore eyes: they’ve incorporated some of those old touches with a clean and bright décor, lots of light, an open kitchen, and lots of Aussie touches. The vibe is casual and elegant, and the team is friendly and welcoming.
The lunch menu boasts three ‘brekkie’ options: hearty slices of toast (go for the sourdough!) topped with two perfectly poached eggs and your choice of either smoked salmon & spinach, avocado & halloumi, or ribeye & mushrooms. I can personally vouch for the first two: delish! These are seriously generous servings, but the dishes also quite wholesome – so you’re left feeling full but also very virtuous, like you could engage in some kind of pro athletic endeavour (once you’ve digested a bit, of course). And there’s also homemade granola with fresh fruit to satisfy those with a sweet tooth.
Besides awesome brunch, De Rode Vosch also offers delicious savoury lunch items. Think classic avocado toast, but also more unusual options: a ribeye toastie, beetroot & barley salad, and vegetarian ramen (yes, vegetarian!). And let me tell you, the ramen is awesome. It’s like a big hug in a bowl, full of strong umami goodness, shiitake mushrooms, green onion, corn, smoked sesame seeds, and a perfectly soft-boiled egg, all tangled up in slurp-worthy soba noodles. Hearty, healthy and satisfying – what more could you want?
Next time you’re meeting up for lunch or brunch, check out De Rode Vosch for the flavour and vibes. Highly recommended!
