Frenchie Café, recently opened at the Lange Nieuwstraat, it’s the newest hotspot in Utrecht. Everything on the menu is instagramable! On the menu you will find: mega-decorated milkshakes with donuts and colored sprinkles, unicorn cupcakes and red velvet pancakes. Jacqueline and her boyfriend opened their café last summer. “We found that Utrecht lacked trendy Instagram-worthy lunch spots with great food.” And so it was time for a her own café. Hello, Frenchie!

Minimalist chic

It is an unexpected location for a hotspot: between beautiful authentic houses and buildings on the Lange Nieuwstraat. But on entering you immediately understand why Frenchie Café fits so well in the Museum Quarter. The interior is trendy: wooden floor with herringbone pattern, marble tables and a pink velvet couch with large golden mirrors above. With some green here and there for fun. Frenchie is cozy and that can be seen. It is always busy at Frenchie! I waited ten minutes for a spot on the beautiful pink couch. Yes, because I was not going to leave without tasting those pancakes myself.

Popular red velvet pancakes

The menu is not extensive, but still it was difficult to choose something. In the end I opted for the popular red velvet pancakes with cream cheese and fresh strawberries. On the menu you will also find toast with avocado and poached egg. Or healthy Acaï Bowl with fresh fruit and homemade granola. And for the sweet tooth Frenchie has  cake and cupcakes from the famous cake shop Life of Pie in Amsterdam. Despite the crowd I did not have to wait long for my order. Oh, how I enjoyed the red velvet pancakes! But of course I had first taken a photo for Instagram, because the dish was worth a picture.

And the delicious and colorful dishes from Frenchie Café fit perfectly on an Instagram feed. But do not let this stop you from going to Frenchie Café. It is definitely worth a visit. Ah, while you’re there … Take that shot!
