Welcome!

‘Karibu’ means welcome in Swahili. And you certainly feel welcome when you walk into the new Karibu café at Oudenoord 330. This ‘Urban Jungle’ is an oasis of green to escape from the chaos of the busy city. Karibu café is a breakfast and lunch café with an African touch. It feels like you’ve just landed in a tropical, faraway place, away from all the obligations of the city. The café opened its doors on March 9th, and it’s already hugely popular.

Tropical party

As soon as you walk into Karibu, you feel like Utrecht is far way. The big palm trees and bean bag chairs with floral print make you feel like you’re in the middle of Africa, thereby ensuring a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere! The interior consists of brightly upholstered chairs, sofas, and surprisingly comfortable bean bag chairs. Once you’re sitting, you’ll never want to leave again. Especially not once you’ve checked out the original and varied breakfast and lunch menu. The dishes are healthy and prepared with fair-trade products, and there’s something for everyone. So you can head to Karibu for a smoothie bowl, a perfectly cooked egg, or a banana and spinach pancake. And of course, they also serve delicious coffee and freshly squeezed juice from their own juice bar. The menu is a tropical party that’s sure to make everyone happy.

Hours of operation

Karibu is open Wednesday through Saturday from 8:00 to 16:00. So if you’re not in the mood to head to the office, you can also bring your laptop, plop down into a beanbag chair, and get to work while you enjoy the African atmosphere. You couldn’t wish for a better place to work!
