I enjoy nothing more than going out for a nice breakfast. Until recently I thought there was not much to offer on that front in Utrecht, but today de Keuken van Thijs has proved me wrong! Situated in the middle of the bustling Biltstraat, we already knew Thijs from it’s delicious lunches, catering and recently opened ‘organic’-fry shop De Pieper. Recently they’ve added a breakfast menu at de Keuken van Thijs to the mix. Daina and I decided to head over for a taste!

We managed to order quite a spread together, with one sweet and one savoury dish. Firstly we ordered a poached egg that was accompanied by avocado, bacon and toast from their own homemade bread, what a plate! To cater to our sweet tooth we also ordered a stack of pancakes, with some berries and a generous swirl of maple syrup. The portions were generous and the flavors good.

All in all this was an amazing and tasty start to the day! If you’re looking for the perfect place to go out for breakfast to, this is it. Do keep in mind that the breakfast menu is only served up to 11.30 am!
