Yes, the festival season is about to begin! Well, almost…Those hot nights are lovely, and they are even better when you spend them at a (food, wine or beer) festival, surrounded by good food, drinks, music, and nice people. Explore Utrecht has made you a list, so put these winners in your calendar!

Lekker in het Park – 5 until 7 June – Maxima Park
On Friday the 5th of June from 16.00 you can visit the beautiful Maxima Park voor Lekker in the Park food festival. This is a new festival in Leidsche Rijn, for the second time around. For these days the park will be dedicated to music, food trucks, theatre, workshops and tastings. The children have also been thought of, during Lekker in het Park there is an extensive program with fun activities. More info.

Fonteyn Festival – 8 until 10 May – Janskerkhof
The first editions of the Fonteyn festival Utrecht were a great success. Fonteyn is celebrating a sixth edition this year. Enough reason to continue the wine festival at the Janskerkhof. Another pleasure! Several wine heroes steal the show with their wines. Of course you will also find enough foodtrucks to score matching bites or small dishes. More info.

Gin and Rum Festival Utrecht – 6 June – Werkspoorkathedraal

Sexy GT’s and tough rums in the robust hall of the Werkspoorkathedraal. A beautiful combination. Come and enjoy 100 kinds of drinks, beautiful cocktails, workshops, good stories and delicious snacks. Ssttt… there’s also a Silent Disco. More info.

Foodtruckfestival Trek – 28 May until 1st June – Griftpark
This festival has grown to be a huge success over the past few years. From Asia to the Caribbean, and from waffles to lobster, this festival has it all! It takes place in the lovely Griftpark, which is spacious and green and has plenty of places to sit. Now let’s hope that the sun does the rest! In any case, the mayor of

Klein New Orleans – 31st May – Breedstraat
Klein New Orleans is returning to the Breedstraat. This somewhat more intimate festival is all about brass, gumbo and voodoo. Shake your hips loose and dance your butts off. Although that will be difficult when you see all that delicious soul food! More info.

BonApetito Food and Festival – 20 & 21 June – Imkerspark Houten
This festival will take place on a park in Houten, not far away from Utrecht city – a super nice location. You can join one of the workshops, participate in activities, or keep your kids busy doing fun stuff. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the nice food from the food trucks, and dance to the swinging music. Lepeltje lepeltje – 26 until 28 June – Lepelenburg
Lepeltje Lepeltje on Lepelenburg is an intimate cultural food festival where you can not only eat great food, but also scour the lovely market. Here you will find vintage clothing and handcrafted goods, among other things. This all is in good company of live bands and DJs. And located on the canal in the city center, this is a fine location indeed. More info.

Theater festival de Parade – 24 July until 9 August – Moreelsepark
Every year we enjoy some cabaret, music, culture and great food here. You can visit several shows, and don’t forget the carousel! It’s as if you are abroad, on little wooden chairs on the terrace — on holiday at De Parade. More info.

Sushi Festival JOY – more info soon! – 
Sushi Festival JOY is arriving in the city to amaze us with a weekend all about sushi. It’ll be a huge sushi feast! It’ll be a vibrant, upbeat, and delicious party.  We’re very curious and will of course be stopping by again this year. More info.
