Theater Utrecht presents an energetic performance by theatre-maker Davy Pieters: What we leave behind. The performance shows the audience how big events and the smallest actions can determine our future. What do we leave behind and what do we carry with us? And does this determine our perspective on the world?

I really enjoyed the visual and physical performance. The performers and mime-talents surprised and captivated us throughout the performance. During a scene, you felt like dancing along to house music. Another scene almost moved us to tears.
The performance opened with a motionless body on the floor that was dragged across the floor. Out of nowhere, there’s a house party on stage. Which turns into a scene where players are walking around lost. The mime game is impressive and if you look closely you will recognize references to familiar paintings. I left the room with a head full of impressions and with the question of what I took to the future with me from the past. The performance ‘What we leave behind’ stays with you for a while.

In her work, theatre-maker Davy Pieters examines how people are influenced by technological developments and contemporary visual culture. She translates this into energetic, filmic and visual performances in which she plays with various media and genres such as television, film, visual arts, games and science fiction.
Theatre Utrecht is the city theatre group of Utrecht. The company gives a new look to classics from the stage and literature, which makes the audience think about the world of tomorrow. Theatre Utrecht plays throughout the country, but in Utrecht, they call the Paardenkathedraal home.
Paardenkathedraal has an impressive history and has recently been designated a municipal monument. The theatre is part of the Veeartsenijterrein, where once veterinarians followed their training. There are no more horses in the neo-Gothic building, but you can go there for challenging disruptive and passionate theatre.
