Museum Speelklok Explore Utrecht

The most cheerful museum of Netherlands!

Museum Speelklok is located in the beautifully renovated Buurkerk since 1984, in the busiest shopping street, Steenweg, in the city centre and known as the most cheerful museum in the Netherlands. This has everything to do with the unique collection of organ music boxes, self-playing musical instruments, from the smallest to the largest. During your visit, you are submerged into the wonderful world of ancient musical instruments and often surprised by the cheerful music coming from all corners of the museum! A more than special outing for kids, parents and grandparents.

While visiting the museum, have a look around the Buurkerk. Probably originated in the tenth century in the business district Stathe, between the Oudegracht and Zadelstraat, the church played a prominent role in the history of Utrecht. In the freely accessible Museum Café you can order freshly made sandwiches, a drink or other treats. In the museum shop you can buy gifts, such as books, CDs, DVDs, music, toys or a music box. There is no need to buy a ticket, just walk in and have a look.

In addition to the permanent collection there are also additional temporary exhibitions. During the coming autumn holiday, for example, there is an exhibition about the beautiful musical fairy tale Peter & the Wolf. The music of Sergei Prokofiev will play on the largest organs.
